Wallets and sign-in

Which Solana wallets work with Pixel Kingdom Wars, how connecting differs on desktop, Android and iOS, and how sign-in, names, avatars and Seeker linking work.

Pixel Kingdom Wars has no passwords. Your Solana wallet is your account: you connect it, sign one free message, and the game remembers you for a week. This page walks through every connect path by device, what the sign-in signature actually does, and how your name, avatar and Seeker badge are handled.

Everything money-related in this playtest runs on Solana devnet — test-net SOL and KEEP with no real value — so connecting a wallet never puts real funds at risk.

Quick facts

Supported wallets

The game talks to wallets through the Solana Wallet Standard, so most modern Solana wallets work. Three are treated as "preferred" and always appear first, in this order: Phantom, Solflare, Backpack. The first one you have installed is highlighted in gold as the primary choice.

The Jupiter Extension is recognized too, but it is deliberately ranked after the three preferred wallets until it has been proven on a real device end to end. Jupiter Mobile and QR-code connect are not integrated.

Why: the preferred list is short on purpose. Phantom, Solflare and Backpack are the wallets the game has been built and tested around; the Jupiter Extension stays secondary until it has been verified signing in and paying on devnet on a real device.

Connecting, by device

Tap CONNECT WALLET on the title screen to open the connect sheet. The sheet reads your device (desktop or phone, which browser, whether it is running as an installed app) and only offers paths that can actually work there.

Desktop browser

If the extension is locked you will get OPEN THE EXTENSION AND UNLOCK IT, THEN TRY AGAIN. Cancelling in the wallet shows CONNECTION CANCELLED; any other wallet error is shown as the wallet reported it.

Android and Solana Seeker

Pixel Kingdom Wars is published on the Solana dApp Store (Seeker and Saga). The store app is the same game in an installed-app shell that opens play.pixelkingdomwars.com, so everything below applies to it too; on Seeker the installed app is the simplest way in, and a Seeker wallet is admitted to the playtest automatically.

Android phones have three routes, and the sheet offers all of them:

  1. CONNECT WALLET APP (Mobile Wallet Adapter). The game registers itself as "Pixel Kingdom Wars" and asks whichever Solana wallet app you have to approve the connection. This is the path inside Seeker's Solana Mobile Web Shell, Android Chrome and the installed-app (TWA) version. If no wallet app answers, the sheet says NO WALLET APP ANSWERED — INSTALL ONE, OR OPEN THE GAME IN A WALLET BELOW.
  2. OPEN IN PHANTOM / SOLFLARE / BACKPACK. These deep links reopen the game inside that wallet's own in-app browser. Each comes with a DON'T HAVE IT? GET <WALLET> store link.
  3. Already inside a wallet's browser: you see a direct CONNECT <WALLET> row for that wallet, and links to the other wallets fold away behind MORE WAYS TO CONNECT.

Wallet apps require HTTPS; on a plain-http page you will see WALLET APPS NEED HTTPS. The public game at play.pixelkingdomwars.com is always HTTPS, so this only affects local builds.

iPhone and iPad

Apple gives wallet apps no way to hand control back to Safari or Chrome, so on iOS the game opens inside your wallet's own browser. The sheet tells you this up front: IOS KEEPS WALLET APPS OUT OF SAFARI AND CHROME — YOUR WALLET OPENS THE GAME IN ITS OWN BROWSER. Tap OPEN IN PHANTOM / SOLFLARE / BACKPACK and play from there.

If you added the game to your Home Screen as an installed app, the social sign-in row moves to the top with the note A WALLET APP WOULD TAKE YOU OUT OF THE INSTALLED GAME — SIGNING IN BELOW KEEPS YOU HERE. That is the only way to stay inside the installed app on iOS.

Phantom on mobile

Phantom's in-app browser gets a dedicated connection path; the button simply says PHANTOM. If Phantom reports an internal error right after you confirm, the sheet shows PHANTOM CONNECTION DID NOT COMPLETE — TAP CONNECT AGAIN, OR RELOAD; tapping connect a second time normally succeeds. If you switch to a second Phantom account on a Seeker and the connection does not complete, tap connect again; if it still fails, use RELOAD AND TRY AGAIN under the error — a fresh page resets Phantom's in-app bridge.

Social and email sign-in (embedded wallet)

When the build has it enabled, the sheet offers CONTINUE WITH GOOGLE / X / EMAIL with the note A WALLET IS CREATED FOR YOU — NO SEED PHRASE. Signing in this way creates an embedded Solana wallet tied to your Google, X or email identity. You never see a seed phrase, and the game itself is the confirmation surface for actions, so you will not get a separate wallet pop-up for every click.

Once created, the embedded wallet goes through exactly the same sign-in flow as an external wallet (see below). Exporting its private key is possible and is protected by the wallet provider's own extra verification step — see Deposits, withdrawals and 2FA.

If you do not see the social row, that build does not have it turned on; use a wallet instead.

The sign-in signature (SIWS)

After connecting, the title button changes to PLAY AS abcd…wxyz (the first and last four characters of your address). Tapping it starts Sign-In With Solana:

  1. The game asks the server for a one-time challenge for your wallet.
  2. Your wallet asks you to sign a plain-text message. It reads, in part: "Sign to authenticate with Pixel Kingdom Wars. This request will not trigger a blockchain transaction or cost any fees."
  3. The server checks the signature and gives your browser a session cookie.

Rules worth knowing:

Tip: expect a second kind of wallet prompt later. Sensitive actions such as withdrawals, changing a security factor or exporting a key ask for a fresh signature that is good for 5 minutes. It is the same free message type, not a transaction.

Switching accounts and signing out

SIGN OUT lives in PROFILE → SETTINGS. It ends the server session, signs you out of the social provider if you used one, disconnects the wallet adapter, and returns you to the title screen. To play as a different wallet, sign out, then connect the other wallet and tap PLAY AS again.

Two other places offer the same exit: the land checkout screen has SIGN OUT / SWITCH ACCOUNT, and the JOIN THE PLAYTEST gate has BACK — SWITCH ACCOUNT. The gate also shows SIGNED IN AS your session wallet and offers a one-tap SIGN IN WITH <connected wallet> when the wallet you connected differs from the one that is signed in.

Seeker linking

If your wallet holds a Solana Mobile Seeker Genesis Token, the game detects it automatically at the playtest gate after you sign in — no form to fill. The token check reads mainnet-beta (the only mainnet read in the game); everything else stays on devnet.

If your Genesis Token sits on a different wallet than the one you signed in with — common if you signed in with a social account, because an embedded wallet cannot hold the token — you can link it. Open the Seeker section (on the gate, or in your profile), connect the Seeker wallet, and sign one message with it. That wallet never becomes your session wallet and never signs a payment; the signature only proves ownership. One Genesis Token can ever be linked to one game account, and unlinking does not free it for another.

A linked Seeker gets the ◈ badge (VERIFIED SOLANA MOBILE SEEKER) next to their name everywhere a player is identified. Owning a .skr domain on its own grants no badge and no admission.

Display names

Until you pick a name, other players see your short wallet address, and a dismissible nudge on the HUD reminds you to choose one. Set it in PROFILE → SETTINGS:

Verified Seekers may adopt their on-chain .skr domain as their name instead (up to 24 characters, lowercase). If your account has no name when you link, the .skr name is adopted automatically.

Why the cooldown: names are how raid logs, clan rosters and the map identify people. A 30-day limit keeps reputations attached to the person who earned them.

Avatars

Upload a profile picture from phone or PC in PROFILE → SETTINGS. JPEG, PNG and WebP are accepted, up to 8 MiB and 24 megapixels; the server normalizes it to a 256 px WebP. You can change or remove it up to 6 times a minute. Without one you get the default silhouette.

What other players can see

Wherever the game identifies a player — map nametags, map search, clan rosters, the raid log — it shows your display name (or your short wallet address if you have none) and the Seeker badge if you have earned it. Your full wallet address is public on-chain by nature, but the game shows the abbreviated form. Nothing from a social login (your email, Google or X identity) is displayed to other players; those identities only exist to create and unlock your embedded wallet.

Devnet SOL is handled for you

You do not need SOL to sign in or to build. When you do need it (land, late Mine and Gold Forge upgrades), the game funds your wallet automatically with 0.5 devnet SOL once your base stands and tops it up later when it runs low (playtest lifetime cap 1.5 SOL). The public faucet at faucet.solana.com remains the fallback — see Getting started.
