COMINGComing with onchain gameplay — in development on devnet; dates will be announced.
Gems are the in-game currency of onchain gameplay: convert KEEP to Gems 1:1, spend them without wallet prompts, and turn them into SHARDS 1:1.
Gems are the in-game currency that arrives with onchain gameplay: you convert KEEP to Gems once, then spend Gems on speed-ups, heroes, buffs and shop items with a single tap. KEEP becomes your wallet token only — it is what KEEP mining pays and what the markets trade — while Gems stay inside the game.
Onchain gameplay is in development on devnet; dates will be announced.

Quick facts
- KEEP → Gems at 1:1. Converting your own KEEP is the only way to get Gems for yourself.
- Gems → SHARDS at 1:1, unlimited. This replaces today's KEEP → SHARDS converter.
- One way only. Gems never convert back to KEEP.
- Gems stay in the game. They cannot be withdrawn, listed, traded, sent to another player or taken in a raid.
- No wallet prompt per action. You sign once when you top up; after that every Gems spend is a tap in the game.
- Not burned. The KEEP you convert returns to the reward reserve that funds future mining.
Converting, step by step
Open GET GEMS. The sheet shows your wallet's KEEP. If you opened it from a purchase, it already offers exactly the Gems you are missing.
Sign once in your wallet. The KEEP moves back to the reward reserve that funds future mining; nothing is burned.
Spend with a tap. The Gems appear when the transfer is final. From then on every Gems spend happens inside the game, with no wallet prompt.
Where Gems come from
There are exactly three sources, and each one is backed by KEEP:
| Source | What it is |
|---|---|
| Convert KEEP to Gems | You choose an amount, sign once in your wallet, and the Gems appear when the transfer is final. |
| In-game KEEP at the update | Your in-game KEEP balance becomes Gems 1:1 when onchain gameplay ships. See What changes for players. |
| One-time tasks | A short list of one-time tasks set by the team, each claimable once per wallet and never repeatable. |
On devnet the welcome gift for new players moves from KEEP to Gems. It is a testing aid for the playtest, not a mainnet feature.
What Gems pay for
Every in-game price that is paid in KEEP today is paid in Gems after the update:
- Speed-ups — finishing a build, an upgrade, research, training or a hero's recovery early.
- Heroes — recruiting Vex or Theodor and buying their levels.
- Extra Mines — Mines two to eight on a base.
- Raid buffs — War Horn, Swift Boots and Powder Charge.
- Shop items — consumables and unlocks sold by the game. Items bought with Gems are bound to your account and cannot be listed.
- SHARDS — at 1:1, whenever you need more building money.
Gems never price anything on a market. The resource market and the player item market trade in KEEP; NFTs trade in SOL; island auctions use SKR. See Market and trading.
The locked numbers
| What | Locked for launch |

The four currencies
| SOL | SKR | KEEP | Gems | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lives in | Your wallet | Your wallet | Your wallet | The game |
| Used for | NFT market, vehicle craft fee, realm permits, base roster changes | Seeker Island auctions | KEEP mining claims, KEEP market, converting to Gems | Everything you spend inside the game |
| Leaves the game? | It never enters | It never enters | Yes — it is a wallet token | No |
How the HUD changes
- The top bar shows SHARDS and GEMS. KEEP moves to the wallet row, next to SOL and SKR.
- The wallet screen lists GEMS (in-game, not withdrawable, with GET GEMS and GEMS → SHARDS), KEEP (your wallet token), SOL, and SKR (read-only, for Seeker Island auctions), with a resources section below.
- Every spend confirmation names the currency it actually takes. If you turned off KEEP spend confirmations, that preference carries over to Gems.
Words we use
- Convert KEEP to Gems — Gems only ever come from KEEP, so that is the one phrase we use for getting them.
- KEEP — the wallet token. Gems — the in-game currency.
- Mint — only for NFTs. Gems are not minted by players and are never tokens.
